In 2016, Go To Place won a major Government funding bid to help promote and celebrate Kent’s beautiful heritage railways.
Using Visit Kent as the lead partner, GTP successfully bid for £75,000 from the Department For Transport’s Heritage and Community Rail Tourism Innovation fund to improve knowledge and links to Kent’s five heritage railways – East Kent Railway, Kent and East Sussex Railway, Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, Sittingbourne and Kemsley Light Railway, and The Spa Valley Railway.
The bid included dedicated marketing, PR and social media campaigns, including a new digital platform for the network, presence in Visit Kent’s London Outdoor campaign in 2016, and improved signage and staff training at nearby mainline train stations in partnership with Southeastern Railway (SER).
